The CCS Lions Softball Team will soon have a new place to play. Renovation has begun at Ruritan Park in Loundon County that will give Concord Christian a beautiful new venue and the first field built in the "Rise to the Top" three year strategic plan for athletics at CCS.
Over $40,000 has been raised of the $45,000 needed for the renovation through the Concord Christian Athletic Booster Club's Corporate and Business/Family Sponsorship Program.
Baseline LLC has been contracted for the renovation and despite heavy rains work has been progressing. New black six foot fencing has been installed around the entire field. Drainage has placed around the entire rebuilt infield. New padding in school colors will circle the field and backstop area from dugout to dugout. New foul poles will be installed along with a new home plate and bases. A scoring and PA area will be built behind home plate.
Dugouts will be painted in school colors and the entire field will be branded with the softball team and school logos. The final piece will be a huge 20 foot scoreboard in left center in school colors and logo.
We are extremely excited to see this project get off the ground. It will be beautiful field for our girls with a retro feel it will be stunning. We are grateful to all the many people that made this happen through their donations and hard work. Athletic Director Bruce Johnson
The team plans to open play in March on the new field but renovation will be ongoing until complete. The team plans a major celebration of the new field later in the spring.
