ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

I Corinthians 4: 1-2   Let us so be considered as ministers of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.
Morevoer, it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.

Bruce "Coach J" Johnson
Athletic Director
Concord Christian School

Our commitment to excellence  When we do things with precision, beauty and grandeur we make an invisible God visible, showing His precision, beauty and grandeur.  With that we want to be more than excellent on the field of competition but excellent in all things, including excellent in love and grace.  Our philosophy can best be summed up by the phrase “doing our best as we strive to be the best.”

We believe as Christians that we are always commanded by Scripture to do our best.  As believers we are not to waste the talent God has given us by giving anything less than total commitment through participation and maximum effort.

Being the best at anything, whether it  is a National Merit Scholar or a state champion is  a worthy and admirable goal of any Christian being the best may not always be the result of our athletic program, however, doing our best must be!!

ITS NOT ABOUT ME. . . . .SERVICE TO OTHERS  We are completely convinced that the only thing that truly lasts in this lifetime is what you do for others out of a pure heart and love for Jesus Christ. Athletics presents this value better than most for high school students.  Because a high school students’ participation in athletics often allows us to teach the values of team, school, church, community and being part of
something bigger than yourself, athletics should be viewed as a crucible for developing Christian character. When our athletes show the love of Christ to their teammates, classmates, and even opponents they draw others to the love of Christ.

Athletics at CCS  is designed to help students foster a pattern of how to approach difficult tasks, major challenges, and intense pressure while maintaining the fundamental Christian value that the entire process is “not about me” but about glorifying God and representing Christ to a lost world.
