ATHLETIC DIRECTOR BRUCE JOHNSON ANNOUNCES THREE YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN "RISE TO THE TOP"
The Concord Christian Athletic Department is unveiling a three year strategic plan called RISE TO THE TOP that includes four distinct areas for improvement. The administration of middle school and high school athletics, student and coaches’ development, budgeting and fundraising, and facilities. Each coach will be asked to do a three year strategic plan for their sport. If you aim at nothing you will hit it every time. Our plan is to be methodical and intentional but not slow as we work to implement this strategic plan and get CCS athletics on the way to being a competitive, God honoring, Christ serving athletic program that we can use to disciple young men and women and to have a big footprint for the gospel in our community.
The RISE TO THE TOP strategic plan includes a capital campaign called PROJECT: LION PRIDE -FIRST STEP. FIRST STEP will set a goal to raise $250,000-$500,000 for both academic and athletic upgrades to the facilities and programs. Part of the strategic plan is also VISION 20/20 which contains the specifics for rebuilding the varsity football program to take the field in the fall of 2020.
We have already begun work in all four areas. In administration of athletics we have created an athletic website, and computerized all of our work product under Schedule Star and DragonFly programs. In coaches and student development we have contracted D1 Sports to develop off season strength and conditioning programs and started strategic planning for each sport. In budgeting and fundraising we have reorganized the booster club, set consistent salaries for coaches, set fair participation fees across the board and completely changed budgeting procedures for teams. In facilities we have started our capital campaign called PROJECT: LION PRIDE to upgrade existing gyms and fields and develop new facilities for the future.
I am excited that we have made such good progress in our first month. We have a mountain of work ahead of us but we are off to a good start. Athletic Director Bruce Johnson
